Majic of Chet Atkins
Not sure if this is the place to post this, but I've always liked this video. I saw it (many, many) years ago when it originally aired on TV. I especially like the first 2.5 minutes of Recuerdos de la Alhambra.

His title of "Mr. Guitar" is well-deserved, without question. Thanks for posting.

I saw Chet in Owensboro, Ky. My ex FIL was a big Chet fan and could play anything Chet played. Pure magic.

This is the absolute coolest:

Wonderful, wonderful music. His arrangements are sublime but very difficult.

Yep, I'm a big fan of his playing also. (Took the playing of Merle Travis to a whole new level).

More magic than majic.

The video, embedded: Additional musical guests on that specific episode of The Johnny Cash Show were John Hartford and Lulu. Check out Norman Blake on mandolin: Lulu sings the classic, Morning Dew--covered by loads of folks, of course. My favorite version is by Nova Local (from their lp, Nova 1). |
