They gotta be kidding...

Introducing the Martin turntable:

If they're looking for something to do with small-size slabs of sinker mahogany, a handful of Custom Shop ukes might have been a more appropriate application - maybe a style-that-never-was #4, with herringbone-28 appointments to fill the historic gap between the #3 and #5K...

Looks like CFM Sr.'s ghost needs to come back from the Great Beyond and kick some major-league kiester down in Nazareth - and soon...

I'll keep my Thorens, thanks. ;)

I like it though I’m not an LP guy

Beautiful turntable. The base was made of an old world mahogany log that sank in a river of Belize on its way to the lumber mill over a 100 years ago. The wood properties were replaced by minerals during the 100 or so years while resting on the bottom. The buyer of such a turntable will not have to wait another 50 years or so for the tone to open and can fully expect that the sound will surpass music from any CD or Apple Iphone that could play that music. No doubt, the sinker mahogany turntable will be worth whatever it costs.

Why waste Sinker on a turntable?

zuzu 04-21-2024 07:03 PM

Will it play 78s? I have some.

This is a $550 turntable that they slapped onto a $40 piece of Mahogany and are charging $1200 for. Truly amazing. For $1200 you could get a far better deck with a far far better cartridge!

Steve-arino 04-21-2024 08:27 PM

I think it looks sort of nice.

Would I buy it? No. I would never buy a table with pre installed cheapo cartridge. That's a dead giveaway to anyone serious about vinyl.

Would one of my kids buy it, maybe. They don't listen like I do, which is just fine.

I think Mr. Barnum had something to say....

CharlieBman 04-21-2024 08:40 PM

Just makes me smile that someone is keeping that old technology alive and some artists are still using vinyl.

Limited to 25, order soon!

jaymarsch 04-21-2024 10:31 PM

Maybe if these sell, they’ll come out with a limited run made of a torrified Brazilian base. It’ll sound better for sure. :-)
Best,
Jayne
