Planet Waves NS Micro Tuners.
I like these. I have on on every instrument.
The ones with the little clip are what I have used both original and the thinner designs. Then they bought out the soudhole tuner . I bought one to try but found it frustrating - difficult to switch on/off and difficult to read sometimes. Anyone want one? The headstock one has one drawback for me and that is the clip than covers a part of the guitar's logo - and I have often thought that they should be transparent. apparently D'addario have just introduced a new model which does away with that clip (GOOD THING!) See this: http://planetwaves.com/pwProductDeta...lip_Free_Tuner So, you "SCREW" it to your headstock!! wha? Hands up those of you happy to do that? |

I love these tuners too - I think I have at least one of every variety. |
It looks like the screw replaces an existing tuner screw, and it says it comes with screws (plural), so presumably no headstock damage / modification.

I’m going to order one. I like the idea.

Well I mean, it's more of using a tuner hole as a mount/replacing one tuner screw.
I think the small size for me would be too much. I still really like my big honkin snark lol. |
At first I thought, "Screws?? No way!!" But after looking at it, this is designed to use one of the existing anchor screws that are already there for your tuning machine. You'd probably have to unscrew it to change batteries, but at least the clamp won't mar the headstock where the audience can see it.
As long as it works well, I'd be OK with that -- no new holes. Unless you installed this tuner way out on the last tuning pegs, it would probably get in the way for those who like to keep capo's on their headstock all the time (I don't). |
No thanks, I certainly don't want a "permanent" attachment on any of my instruments head stock. I NEVER leave the snark or a capo clipped on either.

Use the small clip on one
But I’ll lose it if I take it off(yes, just don’t take it off)so some bright duct tape solved the issue but wish they made in brighter colors. Wah.....wouldn’t get this one for my acoustics, maybe my Tele.
|
My concern would be if the screw threads matched the existing or not.
You'd be kind of re-tapping the hole if it didn't. Plus it could catch on stuff. I like the idea but not sure about it. The clip seems to work fine. |
I'm a fan of the Planet Waves NS Micro Tuners as well.
Hadn't seen this model, looks kinda interesting although I'd think it'd be difficult to read being on the back of the headstock. |
Hi, I have to say that Indidn't actually realise that it was intended to be fitted on a tuning machine screw, so I'm goug to temper my outrage.
Whilst I do see the point, as I use mainly slotted headstocks, I don't think they's work for me and I still have a bit of an issue with the idea. The positive thinking is that the tuners are pretty good, and that D'addario seems constantly thinking of how that can offer them in differing forms. |
I have a couple of these that I keep on my Tele and Precision bass full-time. Love the idea of using the tuning machine screw to mount them. It might even make them practical on other types of headstocks.
|
screw it
Seems it'd be inconvenient to switch between instruments. Could it be damaged inside the case? There is not always much space behind the headstock in every case.
|
I'll do that when pork self levitates.
