Nut width - Eastman e10om vs Martin 00018

Does anyone have both guitars - Eastman e10om vs Martin 00018?

If you are so lucky to have both guitar, can you measure both guitars nut width? According to Eastman's website, e10om has 1-3/4" but some said it's actually narrower than Martin...

Then, how much narrow? :D

I assume you mean.... nut width - you can change that. You probably just need verification on the Eastman because the Martin is indeed 1.75"

In my experience Eastman necks are subject to variations and especially the spacing of the nuts.

I have a Eastman E20OM and a 00-18 Martin (new model) and both have 1 3/4" nuts and 2 5/32" at the saddle. The difference is at the nut and the Martin string spacing is about 1/16" wider. I also have a 000-15m which has a 1 11/16" nut. It is closer to the Eastman than the Martin 00. Before i bought the 15 series, i always thought that anything under 1 3/4" was a deal killer. Now i've owned the 15 series for almost two weeks and i found that it's easily adaptable. Now i know we're not talking about the 15 series and the string spacing is the same on both E10 and E20 models, and the new 00 Martin is the same as the new 000. If possible play both guitars and then make your decision. To me the big decision is whether you like sitka top (000) or the Adi top (E10).
Good luck

Tom

I just measured my E 6 OM Limited Edition.
It's 1 3/4" dead on. Hope that helps

My '11 E10OM has a 1-3/4" nut, but the string spacing was a little narrow. A new nut brought that to 1-33/64". At the saddle, string spacing is 2-7/32".

My Eastman E10 OO is 1 3/4 exactly. I saw someone in your other thread saying they were running narrow, but you have three responses now that pretty much prove that maybe isn't correct. There may be exceptions, but I think if you want a 1 3/4 nut, any new Eastman should be exactly that.

I really think it's a string spacing issue. I'm going to measure the spacing on my E 6 OM Ltd. and my Martin OMC-15e and see what, if any, difference exists. The nuts are both 1 3/4" and I have noticed no difference in the spacing when playing them back to back.

Nut width on my E10 OM is 1-3/4". String spacing at the nut is 1-1/2". String spacing at the saddle is 2-3/16". Eastman says spacing at the bridge is 2-5/32". The E10 OM is a short scale guitar, if that makes any difference.

I own a Martin 00-21 and Eastman E8-OM. They both claim to have a 1 3/4" nut width.

I measured them both, and indeed they are both 1 3/4"

I also measured the string spacing and they are identical there too.

BUT, I know that Eastman's have in the past varied by a fraction in the string spacing department. It was a QC issue. I'm not sure if they've become more consistently standard lately.

Same here. String spacing on my Martin OM and my Pono Dread...same as the Eastman. My Eastman is a 2015 as is the Martin.

My Eastman OM nut width is slightly less than than advertised 1 3/4 inches.

I own the AC812-OM.

It bothered me at first, but I've gradually been able to adapt.

I'd still prefer that the nut width advertised be the nut width provided.

On my AC508M, it's dead on 1 3/4 inches as spec'ed.

Both are 1-3/4" on the ones in the store.

Guildman 11-17-2017 03:29 PM

I never thought I was picky about the string spacing until I got the 00018. Now its noticeable. Doesn't mean I'll go sell anything but sure like the Martin spacing.
