NGD! Cort L450-O...
Yes, a Cort...it happened this way...
My daughter had an appointment at the orthodontist yesterday morning in Jupiter, which is close to Wolfe Guitars - so I had to stop in... ;-) I played a $3950 Dana Bourgeois OM - http://www.gbase.com/gear/dana-bourgeois-vintage-om - very nice, great note separation and resonance (as one would hope) - I can certainly see the attraction - don't have the budget. Then played a Breedlove CM-K - http://www.gbase.com/gear/breedlove-cm-k-1998-natural - only $3550! I personally liked the tone of the Breedlove better than the Bourgeois, but I am partial to cedar... Then on to more pedestrian models. I wanted to try this one - http://www.gbase.com/gear/takamine-s...esf60c-natural - but it was on hold. So I looked around the store, and saw a Cort L450-O - 1 3/4" nut width, all-mahogany, solid top and back (not sure about the sides yet), great action, wonderful tone, satin finish - $300 cash out the door... I picked this one up off of the "cheepie" rack - played it for a bit - great tone! My daughter said it sounded great! I put it down - played a Breedlove or 2, an ESP nylon, and Alvarez nylon - kept coming back to pick this Cort up. It spoke to me - and I spoke to Jay Wolfe...you can see what happened next here - http://www.acousticguitarcommunity.c...ource=activity - as I cannot post pics and things like that here... :-) Anyway, this is a very well-constructed guitar with great tone - it seems to be a new model for 2014 (according to the Cort website - the only reference to it is in the "Price List" section) - http://www.cortguitars.com/files/cor...elist_2014.pdf - there is a L450-C - http://www.cortguitars.com/en/product/l450c - but this one has a 1 11/16" nut... Anyway, I am very pleased! If anyone has the specs for one of these, I'd appreciate it! |

I was in a music store in Mankato, Mn, and played a variety of guitars among some nicer Martins. The owner points me to a solid top lam s&b Cort OM sized guitar. I played it for a while and had a similar experience. Very responsive and good feeling neck. I think if a guitar, regardless of price or lack of high end appointments, speaks to you and sounds great then why not get it. This one was a $350 Cort, don't remember the model number. The only thing I was not guitar shopping, but guitar playing that day, otherwise I may have went home with it.

We have a local Cort dealer. I never was interested in checking them out...until now! Thanks for the info. I wasn't eager to deal with a pushy salesman to look at guitars that I wasn't particularly interested in. But....now I am interested! A Cort might be just what I need.

Congrats. I almost bought the L450-C you mentioned. If they didn't have the all-solid cort dread that was noticeably better, I probably would have

Cort are great guitars for the money. I'm only aware of the L450C with a 1 11/16" nut.
But L450-O? This year, they release a few models in the Luce series and there is this L100-O which is solid spruce top and laminated mahogany back and sides. This one has the all important 1 3/4" nut. The soundhole sticker mention L450-O? |
Nice pick Floridagull! i looked at/thought about the 450C but the 11/16 nut width was a deal breaker. Almost every Cort I have played punched about it's weight class with good build quality.
I don't know, but I assume (like you) that the sides are the same as the C model - laminate. Back has more effect on tone anyways. After you've had it a while could you post your impressions on it? Build quality, tone, volume , playability? I don't have any all hogs and would eventually like one. Congrats on a nice new guitar! Roy |
