I've decided I don't like using the neck strap button

I have one on my two 6-strings and my 12-string, but I recently decided I don't like attaching the strap that way anymore. I attached the straps that way because I though attaching the strap at the headstock interferred with a full barre Fmaj. Now I think that's a load of dookie. I've been finding that the guitars are off balance being attached at the heel of the neck. So I'm going back to using the Planet Waves quick release. Shoe strings are kind of tacky. Functional, but tacky.

What does this have to do with anything? Nothing. I never said it did. :D

Carry on. ;)

I've always gone strapless myself, but then I'm not one to play standing up.:)

I don't usually play standing up, which I think I should get into doing more, especially having had back surgery. I'm not supposed to be in any one position for very long. I found that when I attach the strap at the headstock it makes playing easier standing up. I use the strap even seated. I just get a better hold on the guitar.

I currently have 2 acoustics and when I play sitting or standing I like to use a strap. I also attach it to the neck up by the headstock. I should invest in those quick release gizmos. I use the old shoe string method (tacky I know). :D

I generally prefer to use the button. However, I have one specialty instrument that really needed to be tied to the headstock. I stumbled upon the Planet Waves Quick Release system and it is far and away the best way I've ever found to connect to the headstock.

Here's a link, in case anyone wants to see what it looks like:

The Martin Guitar Strap Button works great and looks better than a shoestring. :)

I tend to think the Planet Waves Quick release is a better solution. The Martin Guitar Strap Button looks like the strap might get in the way of the left hand for some chords. The PWQR seems like it wouldn't be in the way as much. (Could be wrong, but that's how it looks to me.)

I use either/or strap connection location, depending on whether my guitars came with buttons or not. Love the Planet Waves quick release.

And I absolutely hate headstock strap mounts. But I came from an electric back ground. Also the acoustics I own which are Taylors do not have necks that are heavier than the Bodies so the balance is just fine.

That hasn't been my experience but everyone is different.

I have a brass button on a shoestring that I attach to the headstock/neck of the guitar. Works pretty swell
