Yamaha ll16 d string buzz. First post.

WTF.....bought a damp it, changed strings....why does one string buzz. Guitar is two years old. Is it time to set up again with luthier? Seems to buzz from sound hole end?

Hi,

" Seems to buzz from sound hole end"

If it buzzes fron the bridge end, it could very well be the ball end of one of your strings that is not fully set into the bridge.

You could try to loosen strings, pull them and make sure each ball end is properly fitted and tune again.

Where exactly is the sound hole end ? Around the sound hole ? Near or around the bridge ? At the far end, where the end pin is in the end of the guitar ?

Does is have electronics ? Sometimes the wires can lay against something and vibrate with selected tones.

If no electronics, can you press on the bridge and make the buzz stop ? How about the pin holding the D string in the bridge ?

Buzz is a bit better.

The buzz occurs when I strum the open D a bit firmly and the buzz occurs around the saddle or bridge. No electronics in there. Loosened D and reset string and tuned. It's not totally gone.

Have you tried adjusting your truss rod? Or is that not considered because of the location of the buzz.

Does the buzz only occur with an open D or also with a D at the 5th string 5th fret ?
I'm asking because your buzz may be from another string and triggered by a D around 147 Hz.

If i were you, i would loosen and reset the other strings as well.
