cheap om/000 guitars

hi guys, i was wondering if you had any suggestios for cheap om/000 guitars at around $800? thanks :)

You can get a lot of nice guitars in that range. I personally would be looking in the direction of Eastman. Something like this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72CP30Ys5OE

The Martin 15 Series is great for small-bodied guitars. You can certainly get one used for less than your figure and you can almost get a new one for that. If you like mahogany... :)

Recording King "RO" series
Seagull "Folk" series
Martin 000-15M or OM-15
Yairi "FY" series
Larivee OM-3 series

My experience; used Martin 000-15 series, 600 -800, new Yamaha LS6. 400-500 Different tones and feel but both play real nice.

Eastman makes an OM, solid mahogany/adirondack for just a bit more than $800. There are lots of decent OM sized guitars in this range--- Eastman's version is a great guitar.

+1 for Eastman. I played a few Eastman OM's last week and there were some real gems in the bunch.

I'll add another vote for the Eastmans. I have an E10-OM Adi/Mahogany and it is the best OM I've ever had, or played, period. It's about $150 above your budget, but Eastman has others in your range, such as the AC412 linked to above.

I had the opportunity to try the Eastman E6OM and E8OM and they were by far the nicest OM's I have ever played in that price range and were even nicer than some I have tried that were 2 and 3X's more $. I am also very fond of the Martin 00 and 000 15M's (used to own a 0017) but they are a very different guitar tone wise from the Eastman's. I think of the Eastmans as perfect for folk or singer/songwriter music while the Martins have more of a bluesy vibe.

I go with Eastman too but you must be in a different income bracket them me if you consider that price range "cheap.":)

patticake 01-30-2012 07:48 AM

recording king ROS-626
blueridge br-143 or nr-163
martin 000-15

and definitely try the eastmans in that price range.

I like my Eastman AC312 Spruce/Hog very much. You may be able to find one of these or the Spruce/Rose AC412 for somewhat less then your budget. However, those models have been discontinued and are becoming harder to find. Of course the E10/E20 OM's are fantastic guitars, just more $$.

Before I joined AGF I would have laughed at someone who said an $800 dollar guitar was cheap....lol...now I understand. :D

At that price, Used Larrivee OM-03 or possibly OM-03R.

and...

you certainly have gotten great suggestions - I would not hesitate to spend a little extra and get a Martin if you can. You will not be disappointed with the quality.

Eastman would be my second choice, Recording King my 3rd (the RO series such as RO26 or RO126) and then Blueridge - the BR 143A.

And now that I am thinking of it, look at the Guild GAD series if you can find them in your area.
