Using Pearse Replacement Adhesive For Arm Rest

I'm about to re-adhere an ebony slim line arm rest to my guitar and could use a few tips. The replacement adhesive tape was shipped to me coiled up and it appears "straight in line". Is the tape flexible enough to "take the curve" of the arm rest perimeter without bunching up, or is it better to put it on in straight sections, then trim off? I know some of you guys have done this re-application in the past, and I'd appreciate your counsel.

Thanks!

I would PM Wade Hampton on this one. He seems to be the resident expert on Pearse armrests.

It's pretty flexible to bend. Complete coverage isn't necessary IMO

3m double sided tape is what comes with the armrest -
I found it at home depot

Thanks for the info. Was just wondering if the tape strip is "bent" at Pearse World Headquarters when factory applied (rather than cut to fit). And you're right, I'll bet Wade would know.

Bit of advice.......I use only 3 small pieces of the tape...one on each end and one in the middle. Works perfect and makes it VERY easy to pop off when you wish!

Architar, the adhesive tape is flexible enough to follow the curve of the armrest. I've put new strips of adhesive on used John Pearse armrests many times, when I've taken them off a guitar I've sold or am trading off. The new tape follows the contour of the armrest just fine.

I've never tried Jpd's suggestion of using just three small pieces of the tape instead of the entire length of it, but it makes sense.

Hope this helps.
