played a 415 last night . . .
 

The 415 I played last night was everything I dreamed it would be, rich, full, clear, dynamic, bass to die for, I could go on and on. This guitar seems to have been made for open tunings.

I think my local Taylor dealer (Mark at Elmore's Musical Wharehouse, Peoria Il) ordered it with me in mind.

He's a smart man.

Now I just have to figure out how to pay for it . . .

I have a 415 and it is just an exceptional guitar for the money, in my opinion.

It really kicks butt with phosphor bronze mediums on it. Easily the loudest acoustic I've owned, but still a nice, balanced sound.

The 415 really IS all that.

When I made the plunge, I worried that once my ear improved from playing my first truly 'nice' guitar, I'd start to hear what I was missing, and then maybe have to rethink. Hasn't happened yet. I got the absolute most guitar I could for the money I could spend.

Just for the sake of overkill, I'm having my nut and saddle 'boned' within the next couple of weeks. Can't wait to see the effects.

My 415ce is really starting to open up! I had to special order it because they don't build it as a stock item. When I first received it, the wood was absolutely killer. I was there when it arrived at the shop and when we opened it up, everyone was amazed at how figured the Ovangkol was. Maybe it was because I special ordered it. Anyhow, the sound was really tight without the bass that I was expecting. I have been playing it for a month and a half and this week I have noticed the volume and the bass is increasing dramatically. It is sounding just like I hoped it would. As good as the Taylors sound when they are in the shop, they sound that much better when you get them home and play them for a few months. My 415ce is getting so loud I am playing unplugged and everyone else is having to plug in to keep up with the volume it is producing. Of course I plug in when I am fingerpicking, but the sound and playability of this guitar is amazing even when I am playing fingerstyle. It is the best of all worlds.

I once owned a 2001 NAMM 415........

Alas it was sold to finance my dread.

That is/as certainly the guitar that "got away".

Anyone out there picking that 2001 NAMM 415 ? Im sure you're loving it !

The 415 is a BIG bang for the buck in my opinion !!

So you live in Peoria, Illinois?! Cool! I moved out here to Arizona from Bloomington! Never heard of that dealer before out there. But, hey you know if Heartland Guitars is still there? I played my first Taylor there;) oh the memories.
