If I Could Sing Like ...

In your dream you've lost your voice. The Genie appears and says it's gone and you can't get it back, but you can choose to have anyone's voice to replace it.

Sinatra, Pavoratti, Plant, Ozzie, Eva ... anyone

Right now, I' m thinking Burton Cummings. Dang ...

Wow, Genie…… if I could sing consistently like Martin Sexton but not sound exactly like him
Someone once compared me to him. I had been drinking heavily that night
Have not achieved that status again (not that I’m trying) but I am starting to like or at least tolerate my voice…without the Alcohol :)

Now, what to do with the other 2 wishes

John Denver or Gordon Lightfoot in his prime...

It's funny I can't even get close to coming up with a name. :) I'll think about it some though.

So many to choose from...

Probably Freddie Mercury. Or maybe Geoff Tate.

Definitely high on my list along with Levi Stubbs, but this hometown guy gets my #1 vote:

If I could sing like Karen Carpenter I'd be a rich man.

As a rocker, I've admired the gruff "man-voices" of Gregg Allman, John Kay and Ronnie Van Zant for decades. But lacking a natural sounding growl of my own, it feels a bit forced/put-on when I try to go there (maybe I should've kept smoking instead of quitting 30 years ago).

Caught Blue Öyster Cult live (again) last week and noted that my range is closer to Buck Dharma's pleasant tenor. So I'll work on that for a few more years and hope I sound even half as good when I'm 76.

A Genie is suppose to give 3 wishes.
Freddie Mercury, Boz Scaggs, and more wishes.

I'd go for Sam Cooke - but, if he was already taken, I'd settle for Steve Winwood!

Hard to choose, as there are so many terrific male vocalists!!!

frenchie 03-23-2024 11:39 AM

If I could sing like either John Lennon, Neil Finn or Glenn Tilbrook, I'd be happy.

Martz911 03-23-2024 11:42 AM

James Taylor or Kenny Rankin.

When I was a little younger and performing all the time i used to sing along with John Cowan for practice. Our range was nearly identical at the time.

As seasonal allergies have turned pretty much year round for me as I age, my voice isn't quite what it used to be - so I guess what I'm saying is....(I'll never match his hair though:roll:)
