I'm looking for a dread to go along side my Collings OM. Played a 2012 D18 and really liked it. Felt really light in my hands and sounded absolutely beautiful. I'm just wondering what other guitars in this price range I should try. Thanks for your suggestions...

have you looked at a Taylor 710?

I'd try a Rosewood Dread...maybe a used HD28 ? And I've seen several used Collings dreads right at that price too.

I love the 2012 D-18. If you're looking for other guitars, try a Taylor DN8 / 810. Also, a Larrivee Dread, L-05 (Mahogany) and L-09 (rosewood). If you have the opportunity to try a Larrivee, do it.

Thanks for the input. Awhile back i tried an L 10 ( i think that was the name of the model). Vastly different from the martin. Is it fair to say Taylors and Larrivees have a similar sound/feel?

I find Taylor and Larrivees sound different. On a simplified scale where Martin is at one end of the tonal spectrum and Taylor at the other, I think Larrivee tends to fall somewhere in between. Larrivees do have their own unique voice. What does get some people is that Larrivees tend to have a flatter fretboard, with a compound radius of 17" - 21". I'm sure the L-10 was a sweet guitar.
