Got my first guitar
Sort of. I still haven't confirmed the purchase yet. I won a Larrivee D -03 for around 560 dollars including shipping. The seller says it was "barely" used. I'll see if I can get some better pictures from him. Any input?

It should be a nice guitar. Congratulations... Let us know how you like it when it arrives.

Silly question...are you a lefty? I've heard nothing but raves about the Larrivee D-03, so if it is in good condition, you've gotten a nice deal. Enjoy!!

If I'm reading OP right, you obviously don't know how ebay works. You already "confirmed" the purchase when you entered your bid. You don't get to "reserve" it. Pay the man and take your own pics when you get it.

Hmmm....I missed that part. Agree fully; you bid, you won, you do need to pay. It's too late to question the purchase and decide if you want it at this point.

TG, that's kind of what I was thinking when I asked that. In the eBay wording, it says that because there is no pickguard, you can string it for a righty, but that doesn't sound right (which doesn't mean it sounds left...). Anyway, it's an interesting thought.
Maybe the smarter people will chime in and educate us!! |
Technically, Ebay doesn't force you to pay does it? You are "bound" but aren't their loopholes around it? You could just end up having a pissed off seller with a buyer who doesn't pay which is bad for your reputation. Remove credit card info etc. As you can tell, first time buying through Ebay. Either way, I confirmed the payment about and hour ago and waiting to be surprised. I am a lefty so it doesn't bother me.

It's also a major hassle for sellers. Sellers pay to list items on eBay, so if a buyer doesn't pay, then the seller has to wait for eBay to refund listing charges. In short: If anyone uses eBay and commits to purchasing an item, payment should be sent. Congrats on the new guitar, though. I didn't see the full listing, but if the seller offers a return period then you have nothing to lose except shipping costs. |

Enjoy, and post pictures!! |
Larrivée uses a symmetrical bracing pattern, so theoretically this guitar can be strung for a right-handed player...but it will need a new nut ($25-75, depending on the tech), and the intonation will also be way off.
To fully convert to right-handed orientation the saddle slot will need to be filled and re-cut with the opposite angle. $150-200, which should include a new compensated saddle. |
The picture of the fretboard suggests to me that it has been more than lightly played. Still, it may be an outstanding guitar for a good price. I hope you enjoy it.

Nevermind. Please ignore.
