dry cases with new guitars

I got my new 414 today. It was kept in a nice climate controlled showroom, with controlled humidity. But where was the case? In the back. I have bought several Taylors from this dealer, so I know what to expect. Once home, I put the hygrometer in the empty case to check it. The gauge went down into the twenties. So right now, I have a HIGHLY wrung out towel in the case, slightly damp, to get the humidity up. But I wonder how many people take a new properly humidified showroom guitar and dry it out in a backroom case? I know I used to do it.

nice catch!

Dave,
First off, congratulations on your new guitar. Hope the
two of you make great music together for a long time.

Of my three Taylor's, the only problems I've had has
been with two of the cases. One case was replaced,
and the other was repaired. Humidity related? Good
question. Great observation too. Food for thought,
for anyone bringing home a new guitar of any brand.

Good call. For the first three weeks I was humidifying my guitar like crazy while the case was absorbing all the moisture. Then, since it stabilized, I haven't had to re-hydrate the humidifyer at all, yet the inside of the case / guitar hasn't moved off 44% for almost 2 months!
